Many Thanks! I use GIMP, but the same theory applies. Actually, I use thee layers for each color. A base color, shadow, and highlight. I'll have to try this and see how it works.

It always amazes me the sheer amount of meticulous and intricate steps that go into transforming your inital sketch works into another one of your trademark "Fern Masterpieces", but watching those intriguing steps in action is always quite the enjoyable ride indeed! :D

And I have to say, I'm glad to see that you went with the more-elevated positioning of her arm in the finalized piece, as that addition to her pose seems give a much more interactive feeling with the scenery in the artwork, and gives it a much more intimate vibe that is absolutely PERFECT for the feelings of hotness you very successfully invoked upon your lucky viewers within this masterful composition! ^^

Once again, I thank you very much for taking the time to share another fabulous offering of your legendary goodness with us, my friend. And I truly hope that these latest marvelous masterpieces from you will inspire many MORE of your watchers out there to commission an awe-inspiring Fern Masterpiece of their OWN from the Master himself! :D

Tis always nice to see how things progress, my friend. Some slight differences are had from start to finish, but it all ended up swell in the end.

Keep up the great work.

It's amazing and looks effortless like this but there must be magic involved. I sometimes might be able to get an artwork to the 2nd to last stage but the finished up one is professional and unreachable for me. I will never understand how to paint so good.! <3

I dont use digital painting. Maybe thats why I dont understand why you first color it, and then recolor it again oO

in digital painting , you have to think on layers .
I didnt recolor it , I just add a new layer of shadows .

So that's how you do it. Usually when I color in photoshop I color one color section at a time.

It might be obvious to state but I want to see if I'm right about this. From what I'm seeing here, it looks like you create a layer that's purely shadow and then blend it to the colors below, right?

Yes , I create the shadow on a new layer .

Thanks much. This will make things a little easier in terms of time and such.

Though, would be nice if you kept a lineart of this Fire Nation Katara. I wouldn't mind trying out my own colors on it. That is, if you wouldn't mind it.
