Yep! In the comics, one of the Robins is killed off and comes back as Red Hood, an alias formerly used by the Joker. That episode was referencing this, and the name of the Red Hood robin is actually on the Titans' list of suspects for who Red X is.
What is “Good” and “Evil” in reality? Do the two truly exist within their own entities, or is there just the prescience of “Power” and those too afraid to harness its true potential? can something of that ambiguous of a nature truly be defined, or is it simply a matter to be left to the eye of the beholder themselves.
In my own personal belief, these questions are some of the most important ones that any potential “hero” will come across along the journeys they embark on; it allows them to grasp a more true understanding of the difference between the two sides in question and, maybe on a bit of a more menacing note, shows them just how close they, themselves, also toe that ever-fine line between the realms of light and darkness. It's something that any protector or guardian out there must struggle against to understand, and I suppose that is the main reason why I admire this particular character so much, because he, himself, is an entire EMBODIMENT of these ideals towards the hero to which he “antagonizes”.
Yes, X does indeed mark the spot; perhaps the “treasure” that is to be found within is “Truth”.
With that said, it makes me VERY happy to see the teen Titans universe making the cut for your latest showcase appearance of your epic mask series, and it gives me a big smile to see that one of my own favorite characters from this particular world was the next in line to receive your beautifully masterful artistic treatment!
From the striking red “X” donning his metallic mask, right down to the fading black material of his cloak, everything about this piece is a truly perfect representation of this great character, and the artwork itself gives off such a wonderfully POWERFUL feeling of ambiguity and intrigue that made this “villain” such a powerful and memorable one as well. I have to say, my personal favorite aspect of your great design here was your metallic style “mesh-netting”covering the eye and mouth areas of the mask. In the show, we see them as simply colored “white”, and are left to even joke a bit of if he is even able to SEE properly out of a mask of such design. But with your superb interpretation here, we get our real answer to that question, and the awesomeness it presents with your design is a truly EPIC thing to see! ^^
As always, it's a true pleasure to have the opportunity to view your gorgeous art pieces, and of course, seeing my own personal favorite characters under the treatment of your masterful hand only add to the smiles on my face; I can only hope that this is not the LAST we see of the TT universe across your epic mask series!
Once again, thank you for sharing another fabulous masterpiece with us, my friend; you never disappoint with rolling out the awesomeness from the Fern-cave time and time again!
Nice use of quote. I know what X was going to say to Starfire when she was tied up. X: You know, cutie. The only crime you've committed is that you and I haven't gone out on a date. Luckily Robin and the others were there.
i have to admit my fav teen titan quote (neither are from red x) are: Beast Boy (to starfire): 'remember when killer moth made an army of mutant moths and forced Robin to take his daughter to prom and he was like "shmehh" and you were like "grrrr" and hes was like "mehhh", but then we found killer moth!!! and i was like "Dude" and Raven was like "zzzzzzz" and cyborg was like "Bo-yeah!!!" and we kicked his butt and then the mutant moths turned back into these cute little wormie things.... well i kinda kept one as a pet.' and that's how we met silkie hahaha that took forever to type
I'm doing a CL/TT crossover with OCs on that one. In summary: The OCs have to become apprentices because in the CL world, four Lyoko warriors have been infected with probes, too. In the TT world, Robin, too. Odd is in the TT world, too, but also infected. And let's just say one of the OCs is a little too new to crime. So much so she is hesitant to steal or to commit crimes in Slade's name. She even begs Raven to take her to jail for in the TT world, she is her sister.
